چکیده

Tropomyosin has been reported to be responsible for the cross-reactivity between shrimp and dust mites and the measurement of tropomyosin specific IgE was found superior to shrimp extract for the predicting of shrimp allergic reaction. A total of 55 dust mite allergic patients were recruited to analyse the cross-reactivity between shrimp and mites . Tropomyosin specific IgE for shrimps (rPen a1, nPen i1, nPen m1 ), Anisakis ( rAnis 3 ), house dust mites ( rDer p10 ) and german cockroach ( nBla g7 ) were measured using Phadia diagnotic test. Two recombinant allergens ( rTyr p10 for Tyrophagus putresstienciae and rPer a 7 for American cockroach ) were used to investigate the cross-reactivity . Basophil histamine release (BHR) assay was used to evaluate its biological activities. The results showed that there were 13 patients ( 11 cases of atopic dermatitis AD, 4 cases of bronchial asthma BA and 2 cases of BA and AD) sensitive to tropomyosin. The allergen specific tropomyosin were further analysed, there were 69% (9/13) sensitive to rAnis 3, 62%(8/13) sensitive to rDer p10, 54%(7/13) sensitive to nBla g7 and nPen m1. Most patients were sensitive to at least two different species of tropomyosin. Immuno-Dot study showed that there were 8/13 sensitive to rPer a7 and 7/13 sensitive to rTyr p10. Despite the percent inhibition of BHR were similar between Der p and shrimp stimulation the relationship between the tropomyosin sensitive of all species allergens were not correlated. In conclusion, tropomyosin specific IgE can be detected in 23.6% (13/55) of Der p sensitive patients and the percentage of shrimp specific tropomyosin allergy was higher in AD than BA. The poor relationship of the specific IgE between the shrimp specific tropomyosin with other species of allergen indicated that the allergenic component of torpomyosin from all allergen should be generated and used for the definite diagnosis of food allergy.

Detection of a novel 20 kDa shrimp allergen showing cross-reactivity to house dust mites.

BACKGROUND Allergy to crustacean shellfish is one of the most common IgE-mediated food allergies, and tropomyosin has been identified as the major allergen. However, not all subjects affected by this allergy are IgE-positive to tropomyosin. AIMS To evaluate whether sera of patients with shrimp allergy but negative for tropomyosin react to other allergen(s); and to evaluate the role such aller...

Correlation of specific IgE to shrimp with cockroach and dust mite exposure and sensitization in an inner-city population.

BACKGROUND Studies have demonstrated that IgE-binding cross-reactive epitopes between shrimp, cockroach, and house dust mite tropomyosins can account for the presence of detectable IgE to shrimp in patients with cockroach and dust mite allergies. OBJECTIVE We investigated the correlation between IgE-mediated sensitization to shrimp, cockroach, and dust mite in relation to allergen exposure in...

Allergenic cross-reactivity between Blomia tropicalis and Blomia kulagini (Acari: Echymiopodidae) extracts from optimized mite cultures.

BACKGROUND At present, data about the cross-reactivity of Blomia spp. comes from studies made among different genera of mites, and no results have been published involving different species of the genus Blomia. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to find out the level of cross-reactivity between the two main species of Blomia causing allergy, and its implication in the diagnosis of Blomia sen...

Shellfish and House Dust Mite Allergies: Is the Link Tropomyosin?

Crustacean shellfish allergy is an important cause of food allergy and anaphylaxis in Asia. The major allergen in shellfish allergy is tropomyosin, a pan-allergen that is also found in house dust mites and cockroaches. Tropomyosins from house dust mites (HDMs) have a high sequence homology to shellfish tropomyosins, and cross-reactivity between HDM and shrimp tropomyosins has been demonstrated....

Life threatening shrimp allergy cross reacting with mite allergy : a case report

Background Food allergy is apparently increasing and it is estimated that 3–4% of adults have food allergy. Shrimp is one of the most common causatives in seafood allergy. Patients with shrimp allergy may exhibit life threatening anaphylactic reactions. Tropomyosin is a known important allergen in shrimp. The IgE-binding epitope in shrimp tropomyosin, cross-reacts with other allergenic inverteb...
